Australia 1971 by Kristo1594 Australia 1971 by Kristo1594
My entry for the Australia Contest.

You see Australia was colonized by different countries. Each colony became an autonomous state.

Australian Republic -> 1907 Independence from Great Britain
Côte de Kangaroo -> 1971 Independence from France
Kingdom of Tasmania -> 1912 Independence from Great Britain
República da Nova Lusitânia -> 1834 Independence from Portugal
Republiek Nieuw Zuidbrabant -> 1945 Independence from the Netherlands
Republik Südland -> 1918 Independence from Germany
Tierra Verde -> 1873 Independence from Spain
Union of Aborigine Tribes -> 1821 founded by 16 Aborigine tribes

Do you also wanna take part in this contest? Just make your own map ;) If you need a basic map you can use this: [link]

Love the map especially the French part, if  the French explorer Bouganville had turned up earlier than Captain Cook...I wonder how Waltzing Matilda sounds like in French?

Where did the Kingdom of Tasmania come from?

Always love seeing an Australia colonized by more than one nation.

Why did the German colony become independent after WW1? It should have been given a League of Nations mandate.

Côte des Cangourous (Coast of the Kangaroos) would fit better to what I think I know of French naming habits.

Actually, it's spelled Kangourous, and yes Côte des Kangourous would be better

That's what I was about to write. But it COULD have been written as Cangourous... That's an urchrony, isn't it?

It certainly could have been spelled that way. Its alternate history anyway, so why not? Actually, you could spell it K/Cangouroux if you wanted; words ending in "ou" usually take a silent "x" instead of "s", actual Kangourous being an exception.

Only seven words have their plural in oux:  bijoucaillouchougenouhibou, joujou et pou. These are the exception.

But cous, voyous, sous, trous, bisous, clous, bayous, hindous, fous, chouchous, Zoulous, coucous, filous, mous...
